GFR Rescues Cat After Residential Building Catches Fire on 4th Ave

Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) announced on their Facebook page today that crews extinguished a fire that engulfed a residential building on SW 4th Ave early this morning.

One cat was rescued, and no injuries were reported; however, the post says five people were displaced.

GFR District Chief Mike Steele said GFR's reaction time stopped the fire from spreading to other structures.

GFR said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
