Alachua County Man Arrested After Maiming Woman at Springhill Hotel
Mikel Henry Green, 33, was arrested early Monday morning and charged with felony battery after maiming a woman at the Springhill Hotel.
Green struck the victim with enough force that it caused severe lacerations on the victim’s face, requiring surgery and causing permanent scarring. The victim defended herself and the fight was broken up by third parties.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Mark Dugger reported that Green stated “the victim hit him first and pulled his hair. [Green] further stated that he never put his hands on the victim but then corrected himself and said that he did push the victim away from him. Finally, [Green] denied sending the threatening text messages to the victim and said that he never contacted the victim via text, which is a lie as the messages showed [Green] and [the] victim communicating frequently.”
Prior to the attack Green texted the victim "on my soul ima beat the shit outta u and go to jail."
Green was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
Last year, Green was charged with domestic battery via sworn complaint. Despite the victim having visible injuries and Green ignoring calls from police, he was never arrested and the charges were dropped.
