Last week, registered sex offender Jimmy Lee Mazon, 69, was found guilty of not meeting sex offender registration requirements and sentenced to six months of community control.

Community control is a form of probation that is more strict and closely supervised. Mazon will likely be under house arrest for the majority of his sentence.

In 1986, Mazon was convicted of sexual battery with a weapon or force in Alachua County.

Mazon pled no contest to reach a plea deal with the State Attorney’s Office.

Mazon was initially facing additional charges for three counts of providing false registration information but they were all dropped.

Police reportedly found Mazon was living in a white travel trailer without reporting he was doing so.
