Alachua Man with History of Domestic Violence Faces New Charges

Darrick Leon Paul, 53, was arrested on Friday and charged with felony battery by a repeat offender. 

Paul reportedly punched the victim in the face three times, leaving her with a busted lip. 

Paul's bond is set at $40,000.

Paul received another charge for battery in November 2024 via sworn complaint, but a warrant wasn’t issued. Paul reportedly poured beer on the victim and struck her multiple times.

Paul was charged with domestic battery twice in 2023, and both cases were dropped. 

In 2014, the Gainesville Sun reported that Paul fought two women, one being pregnant. 

In 2004, Paul was charged with domestic battery, but the case was dropped because the victim was not located.  

In 2000, Paul was convicted of domestic battery.
