Alleged Batterer Arrested For An Assortment Of Crimes
Joel Angel Foster, 27, was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, displaying a firearm during a felony, domestic battery, grand theft of a motor vehicle, possessing over 10 grams of controlled substances, and possessing less than 20 grams of cannabis.
On Saturday, Foster and his girlfriend got into an argument at Santa Fe Oaks Apartments, leading to Foster hitting her, taking her keys, and stealing her vehicle, which contained a gun.
After this, the woman went to the residence of two of her friends or family members at Tiger Bay Apartments, and Foster followed her.
When Foster arrived on the scene, he texted the victim he was outside and asked her to come out. She said no, reporting he “was in a manic state of mind due to drugs…. [and] was very unpredictable to where [he] could harm her or [her] child." She told police that after she looked out of the window, Foster looked back at her and fired six shots into the air.
Foster left and came back to the residence twice. At one point, he demanded the victim bring down their child they have together.
Foster reportedly came to the door and stated to the victims, “Y'all burning bridges, and ya’ll going to lose everything.” He proceeded to flash a gun in his waistband at his child’s mother and the apartment owners. One of the owners shut the door on Foster and called law enforcement.
Foster fled the scene, but he was pulled over at around 2:30 a.m. on NW 31st Avenue off 83rd St by Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy Cody Bierman and arrested.
Foster’s search found two modified firearms, two boxes of 9mm bullets, 19 grams of cannabis, and 30.3 grams of methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV).
During Foster’s police interview, he told Bierman, “I smoke molly a lot.” He claimed he was going to smoke with his friends and that he “planned to go target shooting.”
Foster is eligible for a $110,000 bond.
When Foster was arrested, he was out on bond for a pending false imprisonment case. Last year, he allegedly forcefully restrained a woman for a minute while co-defendant Devyn Ramos beat her. Foster also has three misdemeanor adjudications.
