The owner of Alvarez Paint Group (APG), Stephen Dayne Alvarez, was arrested on Monday and charged with felony domestic battery.

The arrest report states that Alvarez and the victim had a verbal argument at Munegins and left. They both arrived and left in separate vehicles.

Alvarez arrived home before the victim and waited for her in the driveway. When the victim got home, Alvarez bum-rushed her into the concrete. Alvarez is over a foot taller than the victim and weighs 290 lbs.

The victim had lacerations, bruises, a permanent scar and a concussion. She got up and went inside. Alvarez aggressively followed her and a witness had to separate him from the victim.

The victim went to the hospital for her injuries.

Alvarez told police his actions were in retaliation to the 90 lbs victim pushing him.

Alvarez established APG in 2016 in Sopchoppy, FL. He moved the business to Jacksonville in 2021.

Alvarez appears to have discontinued APG in 2022, not filing annual reports; however, he reinstated the business in August.

APG’s Thumbtack webpage says the business has been running for 17 years. The page calls Alvarez a “painting master” and says he’s had “hundreds of happy customers.”

Alvarez’s business is based in Jacksonville, but he lives in Gainesville.

Alvarez’s bond is set at $5,000.
