Bomb Squad Called in Downtown After Threatening Note Left at Hampton Inn

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was called into downtown Gainesville around 1:30 p.m. today.

A Gainesville Police Department officer was asked if there was a bomb nearby and he responded “not anymore.”

However, a nearby firefighter said there wasn’t ever an actual bomb in the area and that it was an empty threat.

A Hampton Inn employee said the threat was left in the form of a note and that they do not know who did it.
