Convicted Batterer Arrested for Spitting on Woman; Violation of Probation
Joshua Francois Yamashita, 28, was arrested on Sunday and charged with battery with a prior battery conviction.
Yamashita was reportedly walking on a sidewalk behind the victim, and she moved over so he could walk past.
As Yamashita was walking by, he reportedly spat on the woman but missed her face, causing the spit to land on her shirt and hand.
Gainesville Police Department Officer Daniel Tollefsrud reported that Yamashita spontaneously stated that he fled the scene after the incident.
Yamashita was found guilty and convicted of battery last year and sentenced to a year of probation. His new charges violate his probation.
Yamashita’s bond is set at $2,000.
