Joseph Mack Savage, 52, was arrested on Wednesday on a warrant for domestic battery and obstructing justice.

The sworn complaint states Savage hit the victim and took her phone to prevent her from contacting the police. The victim had visible injuries on her face.

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers reportedly attempted to contact Savage, and he said he’d meet with them but never showed up.

In June 2009, Savage was convicted of stalking, battery, and obstructing justice.

In August 2016, Savage was charged with sexual battery against a minor, but the case was dropped a few months later.

In December 2017, Savage was found guilty of possessing a firearm against the order of a domestic violence injunction.

In January 2020, Savage was charged with domestic battery, but the case was dropped the following month.

In April 2020, Savage was charged with violating a domestic violence injunction, but the case was dropped two months later.

In his current case, Savage wrote a letter to Judge William Davis where he blamed the victim and claimed his innocence.

Savage was released on a $75,000 bond.
