Former Surgeon Released on Bond Despite Facing Over a Dozen Charges For Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material
Former surgeon David Stephen Saunders was released on Friday from the Alachua County Jail despite facing nearly two dozen charges for possessing child sexual abuse material.
He was given a bond of $15,000 each for charges of misusing a two-way communication device and transmitting child pornography using a two-way communication device. He was given a bond of $5,000 for each of his 19 charges of possession of child pornography, for a bond totaling $125,000.
State Attorney Brian Kramer neglected to file a motion of pre-trial detention against Saunders.
Saunders has pleaded not guilty.
