Former UF Vet School Employee Arrested for Violating Probation in Assault Case

Daniel Joseph Sanetz, 53, was arrested on Thursday for violating his probation in his case of aggravated child abuse and assault with intent to commit a felony.
At the time of Sanetz’s arrest in 2018, he had been employed as the associate director of human resources for the University of Florida (UF) College of Veterinary Medicine.
Santez was initially charged with lewd and lascivious behavior for molesting a girl between the ages of 12 and 16; however, the state attorney’s office dropped the charge in favor of prosecuting him for aggravated child abuse and assault with intent to commit a felony.
Santez was adjudicated guilty after pleading no contest on both charges and sentenced to 1 ½ years in prison followed by two years of supervised release and ten years of probation.
Santez violated his probation on February 6, 2025, by failing to abstain from drinking alcohol. Officers reported finding pictures of Santez consuming alcohol.
Santez was released on recognizance and will appear for a change-of-plea hearing on April 21.
