Gainesville Door Dash Driver Blames Cell Phone for Battery

Gavin Cordell Thompson, 32, was arrested last week and charged with domestic battery.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Issac Minck reported that Thompson flagged them down and “requested that deputies stand by with him while he retrieved belongings from inside of the motel room he was sharing with the victim.”

When deputies entered the house they discovered the victim had a bruise across her lips because Thompson slapped her.

Minck reported that Thompson told him the victim “had been struck in the mouth with a cell phone, not his hand.”

Thompson’s first appearance order states he’s worked as a Door Dash driver for the past month.

Thompson’s bond is set at $7,500.
