Gainesville Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Brian Keith Gunter, 42, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Gunter saw the victim when he came home to his mom’s house. Gunter became angry because he and the victim were in an argument the previous day.
Gunter told the victim to leave, and she said she would if his mom told her to.
Gunter reportedly went into his room and said, “I got you,” and cocked a shotgun. Two witnesses and the victim reported hearing Gunter cock the shotgun.
The victim ran out of the residence and took cover behind a car.
The victim told police she knew what a shotgun sounds like and she that thought Gunter intended to kill her.
An Alachua County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) deputy located a shotgun in Gunter’s room closet. The shotgun reportedly did not have a shell in the chamber or magazine.
Gunter’s bond is set at $50,000.
In May 2021, Gunter was charged with harassment threatening to beat up his stepdad over text, but the charges were dropped.
