Gainesville Man Arrested for Aggravated Battery after Knife Attack at Smokey Bear Park
Altonio Lee Richardson, 42, was arrested on Monday and charged with aggravated battery.
The victim broke up with Richardson because he stole her money and was abusive towards her.
Richardson reportedly “found” the victim at Smokey Bear Park. Richardson beat and choked the victim and stabbed her with a box cutter. Richardson stabbed her as she was running away. The victim was able to escape and walk away on her own after sustaining multiple puncture wounds.
Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Officer Nicholas Schentrup reported that Richardson and his mom told the victim they’d “retaliate against her” if she reported the stabbing.
Richardson has no bond pending a pretrial detention motion by the State Attorney’s Office to be heard by Judge James Colaw on November 12.
