Gainesville Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Chasing Victim on Motorcycle & Shooting at Her

Kelvin Jamal Williams, 29, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with attempted murder after shooting at his girlfriend while she was driving.  

Williams chased the victim on his motorcycle while she fled in a vehicle. 

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tommy White reported the following: 

“Williams was observed by [the victim] being chased with his motorcycle while she drove her vehicle south bound on SR93 near mile marker 381. The victim stated while being chased, [Williams] pointed a black handgun at her vehicle and shot at least one round at it. This incident stemmed from a previous argument during the day between the victim and [Williams]. 

[Williams] was seen walking outside his residence upon my arrival at his residence and was detained on scene.  [Williams] was read Miranda and post Miranda [and he] said that he understood his rights and did wish to speak to me. Post Miranda he did not confess to any of the allegations. 

 [Williams] admitted to having a firearm inside a case stored in his book bag that he was currently wearing. The firearm found is a black Glock 43. The DEF also is an owner of a black Glock 19 which he gave consent to seize from his residence for the investigation….While the investigation took place outside his residence, it was found that on the victim’s vehicle there was a bullet hole with the round visible. The round (bullet) was retrieved from her vehicle and it was visibly consistent with the hollow point ammunition found loaded in [Williams’] handgun and magazines.”

Williams has no bond pending a pretrial detention motion by the State Attorney’s Office.
