Gainesville Man Arrested for Battering Two Family Members

Jared Jathniel McWilliams, 26, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of domestic battery, one being aggravated. 

McWilliams reportedly began battering one of his family members during an argument, causing another family member to come to her defense. McWilliams reportedly picked up the defending family member and threw her on the ground. 

A witness told police she saw McWilliams punch the first victim in the face before picking up the second victim and throwing her. 

Gainesville Police Department Officer Brandon Vidal reported that “Post Miranda, [McWilliams] stated the victim was annoying him, so he began slapping [her] in the face. [McWilliams] said the two began fighting, and it led outside. [McWilliams] said outside he began punching yhe victim in the face. [McWilliams] stated [the second victim] grabbed a broom, and he grabbed it from her and began striking [her] in the face with the broom.” 

McWilliams’ bond is set at $40,000.
