Travis Dwyane Tillman, 43, was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, Tillman got into an argument with the victim while they were watching a movie, and he punched her in the face. Tillman has a scratch on his face due to the victim defending herself.

A neighbor told Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy Robert Stafford that they heard loud banging followed by a woman yelling “Stop.”

Stafford reported that Tillman was “deceptive” and said the victim was “just a friend and that she had left.” Tillman said he didn’t have any information on the incident.

According to Tillman’s first appearance order, he’s been employed as a cook at Local Provisions Pizza restaurant in Newberry for two years.

Tillman’s bond is set at $20,000.
