Gainesville Man Arrested for Death Threats and Battery

Terrence Robert Williams, 44, was arrested Sunday morning and charged with felony domestic battery by a repeat offender, assault and obstructing justice.
On Saturday night, Williams, who had reportedly been drinking, got into an argument with the victim over text messages on her phone. Williams reportedly punched a hole in the wall next to the victim’s head and began throwing things while screaming.
Williams reportedly told the victim, “I’mma kill you…. Might as well kill you now since I’m already going to jail.” Williams began throwing and dragging the victim around the room.
The victim told police that Williams picked up a knife and looked at her with intensity. Williams reportedly put the knife down and picked it up again multiple times.
The victim began calling 911 but acted as if she was calling someone else. Williams took the phone from her, reportedly in fear she would contact the police.
Gainesville Police Department Officer Gregory Meshes reported that Williams “grabbed a wooden plank that read, ‘the heart is’ and broke [it] across the victim’s back. At this time the victim began to scream for help but no one heard her or reported it. [Williams] ran to the rear bedroom to grab something and this is when the victim got up and fled the apartment.”
The victim made contact with a neighbor and asked to use her phone to call the police, as Williams still had her phone. Williams then ran out of the apartment, causing the victim to flee into the neighbor's residence. Williams ran after the victim and grabbed her arm. The neighbor began yelling at Williams, and he reportedly apologized and fled the scene.
Williams' bond is set at $125,000.
