Gainesville Man Arrested for Domestic Battery and Probation Violation

Jacarie Dewayne Lumford, 27, was arrested on Tuesday on a warrant for domestic battery and probation violation in his 2023 cocaine possession case. 

Lumford was charged with domestic battery via sworn complaint on September 24, 2024. 

The victim was speaking to a man at her doorstep, and Lumford began arguing with her about it. 

After a verbal argument, Lumford reportedly slapped the victim in the face and took her phone. 

Lumford fled to his vehicle with the victim’s phone, and she followed. The victim attempted to reach in the vehicle to get her phone, but Lumford rolled up his window and drove away. 

A witness provided police with surveillance footage of the incident. 

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Officer Dylan Spinelli reported the footage shows Lumford and the victim having a verbal altercation before they walk off camera and an audible slap is heard.  

Lumford has a $2,500 bond on his domestic battery charge, but he is not eligible for release due to having no bond on his probation violation.
