Gainesville Man Arrested for Felony Battery, Placed Under Investigation for Sexual Battery Against Minor

Freddie Lee Young, 50, was arrested on Wednesday on a warrant for felony battery with a prior battery conviction. 

The victim told police that Young pushed her into the pavement during a dispute. 

The victim and a witness both told police that Young struck her in the face with an open palm.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy Michael Adkins reported that through a follow-up investigation, it was found that the argument started because Young took the victim’s minor family member to a store a few minutes down the road but was gone for over an hour. While committing the battery, Young reportedly stated that he sexually violated the victim’s minor family member.

Young is being investigated for sexual battery by the ACSO Special Victims Unit. 

Young’s bond is set at $75,000.
