Gainesville Man Arrested for Finger Jabbing

Damarion Deontae Barton, 22, was arrested on Tuesday on a warrant for domestic battery, robbery and obstructing justice. 

Gainesville Police Department Officer Cody Meshes reported that on April 3, Barton “chased down the victim when she tried to leave [him] after she discovered he had cheated on her.”

Barton reportedly insulted the victim while grabbing her arm and jabbing his fingers near her eye. The victim had visible bruises on her arm.  

During the altercation, Barton reportedly reached into the victim’s pockets and took her phone. The victim told Barton she would call the police if he did not return the phone, and Barton threw the phone, stating, “I don’t give a fuck about the police.” 

Meshes reported that Barton did not listen to police announcements when contacting him. 

Barton is not eligible for release pending a pretrial detention motion by the State Attorney’s Office.
