Gainesville Man Caught with 60 Grams of Cannabis After Battering and Choking Woman

Julian Kency Johnson, 38, was arrested on Thursday and charged with domestic battery by strangulation, drug possession, possession of 20+ grams of cannabis, and marijuana possession with intent to sell.
The arrest report states an uninvolved third party saw Johnson choking the victim and called the police.
The victim told Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies that Johnson grabbed her and threw her to the ground on her back. The victim had grass on her back and legs consistent with being pushed to the ground.
Johnson was located by deputies in his vehicle shortly after the incident.
Deputies reported finding 62 grams of cannabis in Johnson’s vehicle along with a scale and Ziploc bags.
Johnson reportedly admitted to owning the cannabis and stated, “The victim and himself got into an argument over another female he was talking to.”
Johnson’s bond is set at $92,500.
