Gainesville Man Gets Cut in Familial Attack

Clinton Kenneth Mitchell, 51, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with aggravated battery and battery on an elderly person. 

Mitchell reportedly shoved his mom causing his nephew to defend her with a knife.

The arrest report says Mitchell got cut on the wrist and ran outside before picking up a shovel and swinging it at his brother through a screen porch. 

Mitchell claimed his nephew and brother were the aggressors. 

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy William Hill determined Mitchell was the primary aggressor. 

Mitchell’s bond is set at $25,000.
