Gainesville Man Held in Pretrial Detention on Multiple Charges

Rafael Ramirez Robinson, 39, was arrested last week on a warrant for aggravated assault, battery with a prior battery conviction, larceny, trespassing and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
The victim reported that during an argument Robinson accused her of cheating and began throwing things. The victim asked a witness to call the police.
After hearing the police would be called, Robinson reportedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim, stating, “I’ll shoot it out with the police!”
The victim said the gun had a green laser pointer that was pointed at her chest.
Robinson reportedly slapped the victim’s glasses off her face and stole them, knowing she needed them to see.
The witness told police she did not see Robinson’s gun as she was calling the police from her bedroom but did hear yelling and screaming.
Another witness told police she did see Robinson pull out the gun and corroborated what the victim said about him stealing her glasses.
Robinson was also charged with violating his probation in a 2023 battery case.
The State Attorney’s Office filed a pretrial detention motion on Robinson which was granted by Judge William Davis on Tuesday.
