Gainesville Man Hits Family Member After Accusing Her of Theft

Kevin Lamark Jackson, 28, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with domestic battery. 

Jackson and the victim got into an argument after he accused her of stealing her phone. 

The victim told police Jackson approached her aggressively and grabbed her by the shirt. Jackson reportedly struck her in the face, leaving visible bruises. 

A witness told police she saw Jackson and the victim both hitting each other but that Jackson was the one who started the confrontation. 

Jackson told police the victim hit him and denied striking her.

Jackson was released on recognizance under the condition he not contact the victim.
