Gainesville Man on Probation for Arson Arrested for Sexual Battery Against Two Children

Antwain Demond Akins, 34, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of sexual battery against minors. 

Akins raped the victims in late 2023. 

Akins denied committing the rapes when questioned by police. 

Akins is currently on probation for arson. 

In June 2024, Akins was arrested and charged with child cruelty but the case was dropped a few months later.  

Judge David Kreider granted the State Attorney’s Office’s motion for pretrial detention on Akins.
