Gainesville Man Released on Bond After Allegedly Attacking Woman Holding Child

Updated 2/22/25: Richardson was arrested again on Valentines Day for violating his no contact order with the victim. Richardson was reportedly pepper sprayed by the victim in self defense after he grabbed her hair.

On February 20, Richardson was released on a $10,000 bond.


David Lamont Richardson, 20, was arrested on Monday and charged with domestic battery.

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Detective Ranisha Johnson reported Richardson “aggressively placed his hands onto the victim’s face, rubbing his hands throughout [her] face multiple times. [Richardson] then snatched the victim’s hair cap from her head. The victim stated in self-defense she then jumped onto [Richardson]. The victim stated [Richardson] then pushed her into a wall while [she] was holding her toddler child…. Post Miranda, [Richardson] admitted during the argument with the victim he placed his hands onto her face and snatched her hair cap from her head. [Richardson] denied pushing the victim.”

Richardson was released after posting a $5,000 bond. He’s been ordered to not contact the victim or possess any weapons.
