Ronnie Moss, 55, was arrested on Friday and charged with domestic battery.

Moss and the victim were reportedly in a verbal argument when Moss stood up while she was sitting and aggressively placed his hands on her. The victim pushed Moss away and he punched her repeatedly.

The victim hit Moss back in self-defense and managed to get to a phone to call 911, causing him to disengage.

Moss told Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Officer Tyler Allen that he attempted to “hug” the victim. Moss said he didn’t know how the victim got a busted lip and that he “only pushed her down on her chest.”

Moss has previously been convicted of battery, domestic assault, cocaine possession, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Moss was released on a $5,000 bond. He’s been ordered not to contact the victim.
