Gainesville Man with Open Intimidation and Assault Cases Arrested for Battery Against a Pregnant Woman
Dale Anthony Hatch, 37, was arrested Thursday night and charged with aggravated battery against a pregnant woman.
The victim reported that Hatch showed up at her parents’ house uninvited after sending her threatening texts all day. When Hatch arrived, the victim told him to leave, and he slapped her.
Hatch was contacted by Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies, and he claimed “no physical altercation occurred.”
Hatch’s bond is set at $25,000.
Hatch was charged via sworn complaints in June for intimidation and aggravated assault for two incidents that occurred in May; however, he hasn’t been booked for these charges.
Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Officer Brian Knapp reported that on May 19, the victim showed GPD messages of Hatch claiming he’d “destroy [the victim] at work," stating, “I’m slapping the fuck out of yo bitch ass and blowing up car up shorty on everything I love…. U are done!!!”
When the victim reported the assault, she only knew Hatch by his nickname, “Black,” but she would learn his real name two weeks later when Hatch pointed a gun at her. Hatch fled the scene before GPD arrived. The victim provided enough information about Hatch for GPD to identify him.
GPD has had nearly five months to arrest Hatch, but they did not, leading to his arrest by ACSO for battering a pregnant woman.
