Gainesville Shooting Victim’s Mother Asks for Help in Paying Memorial Service
Updated March 19th: GPD has arrested Dyquann Freeney, 25, as well as two juveniles in connection to this shooting.

“I'm am heart broken and the pain is strong at the loss of my son Caleb Fries. He was a beautiful person and a huge heart. Smart beyond his years. He is/was to be a father for the first time tomorrow the 22nd. Someone took his life from him. Caleb was so young. I miss you Baby Mate more than I can ever express. Caleb is with his father Joe. I am asking for help with his Memorial Service cost. You never expect to bury your child. If anyone can help with anything it's greatly appreciated. These are the words of Leslie Fries asking for help on Gofundme to pay for her son’s memorial after he was killed in a shooting.
Caleb Fries was 17 years old when he was shot and killed at the Pointe 23 Apartments Monday night at 8:58 pm.
Yesterday the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) released information about the shooting, stating Fries was found dead in a vehicle after succumbing to a gunshot wound. Witnesses reported hearing three to five gunshots to GPD. They also told detectives they saw three Black men fleeing toward NE 23rd Avenue, with one carrying a firearm. GPD has not given anymore information to the public.
