GPD Arrests One Adult and Two Juveniles in Shooting Investigation
The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) has arrested Dyquann Freeney, 25, Mikhail Lawson, 14, and Kemeon Lee, 15, and charged all three individuals with murder and armed robbery in connection to a homicide committed at the Pointe 23 Apartments last month. Freeney was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On February 19th, at 8:58 pm, GPD responded to the Pointe 23 Apartments after callers reported hearing three to five gunshots in the area. Police responded to find 17 year old Caleb Fries deceased in his car after succumbing to a gunshot wound. Witnesses told police they saw three Black men fleeing the scene, one of whom was carrying a firearm.
Shortly after the shooting, the victim’s mother asked for help on GoFundMe to pay for her son’s memorial.
