Grace Marketplace Resident Arrested For Battering Elderly Home Depot Customer
Mark Jermaine Williams, 44, has been arrested and charged with drug possession, drug usage, resisting an officer without violence, grand theft, and battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
The sworn complaint states that on September 6, Williams walked into Home Depot and filled a shopping cart with over $800 of bug spray, weed killer, and Dewalt products. Williams ran through the garden entrance and into the parking lot with the shopping cart.
An elderly Home Depot customer recorded Williams committing the theft, and he shoved her to the ground. The victim was bleeding and required first aid to her arms and legs. A witness confirmed the battery to the police.
Another witness later came forward to say Williams was his friend, and he picked him up from Grace MarketPlace and drove him to Home Depot. He said he was taking a nap in his car while Williams was shopping and woke up to Williams jumping in the passenger seat and yelling, “Go, go, go.”
The witness said he returned Williams to Grace MarketPlace and that Williams took the stolen goods with him.
Williams reportedly fled from police Monday and was found in a bathroom with pills and a crack pipe.
Williams has seven felony and ten misdemeanor adjudications. His bond is set at $79,500.
