High Springs Man Caught on Camera Abusing Ex During Custody Exchange
High Springs man Willie McMillian, 47, was arrested on Saturday and charged with false imprisonment, possessing a weapon as a convicted felon, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill (domestic).
During a child custody exchange with the victim, McMillian got into her car and asked her, “If you could kill me, would you?”
McMillian placed a handgun on the center console as the victim said, “Will you not?”
McMillian asked the victim again, saying, “Would you shoot me? Cause it seems like you have that much hate for me?”
The victim responded, “You need to pick that up, and you need to get out of my car. I need to go to work.”
McMillian asked the victim if she’d kill him a third time, and she said, “I’m not talking to you when there is a gun between us.”
After going back and forth a bit more, McMillian said he was having “bad thoughts” and said that he’d rather be shot than walk out of the car. He eventually walked out of the car and left the scene.
The victim recorded the incident on her phone.
McMillian reportedly told police that “there was no gun” before consenting to a search where police found the gun in the video.
In 2017, McMillian pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic battery by strangulation in exchange for a withheld adjudication.
McMillian’s bond is set at $175,000.
