“I Didn’t Want to Force You” Says Man Arrested For Rape
Bryan Patino, 21, has been arrested and charged with two counts of sexual battery for committing date rape.
Patino’s arrest report details that the incident started out as consensual sex and transitioned to rape after Patino refused to stop after being told to.
The victim went to Shands Hospital for medical treatment and the rape was proven further with a sexual assault kit.
The victim texted Patino the following day to tell him his actions were unwanted. Patino texted “I’m so sorry I didn’t know how much pain you were in because I was numb to the fact” and “I am really ashamed that I didn’t listen better and take care of you in that moment. I didn’t want to force you to do anything…. I should’ve stopped…. I didn’t listen, I fucked up.”
The State Attorney's Office has made a motion for pretrial detention.
