Keyly Garcia-Suazo, 39, was arrested on Friday and charged with battery on a pregnant person after she punched her pregnant co-worker at La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant.

The victim told Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy Anthony Perez that Garcia-Suazo accused her of throwing something she owned away before punching her in the shoulder and face.

The restaurant's manager provided Perez with surveillance footage proving the alleged events.

Perez reported that “Keyly advised that she knew [the victim] was pregnant and said that [she] was trying to play the victim. Keyly denied allegations of hitting [the victim].”

Garcia-Suazo wrote that she was unemployed on her first appearance order, indicating she was fired on the scene or knew there was no chance of retaining her employment.

Garcia-Suazo was released on recognizance.
