Man Arrested for Domestic Battery

Shawn William Mccune, 46, was arrested on Thursday and charged with domestic battery. The arrest report by Gainesville Police Department Officer Justin Snitselaar states the following:
“The victim was asleep in their shared bedroom when she was awoken by [Mccune]. [Mccune] grabbed her and dragged her out of the bed, throwing her to the floor. The victim then sprang up like a ‘spider-monkey’ and got on top of [Mccune]. After she told [Mccune] to never touch her again, they separated and continued a verbal altercation, which led them to the kitchen. [Mccune] was angry about being out of beer. Once in the kitchen, [Mccune] grabbed the victim by her arms and pinned her to the wall. He then grabbed her by the throat and stated he would kill her. The victim separated and began making finger guns at [Mccune]. He then began to punch the fridge in anger. The victim walked away and called 911 a short time later.
Post Miranda, [Mccune] initially advised the victim had woken him up from his sleeping spot on the couch. A verbal altercation began because she wanted him to move out and was angry about his drinking. During the verbal altercation, they both grabbed onto each other and pushed each other around. Once separated, he punched the fridge out of anger. When asked to clarify who touched who first, [Mccune] changed his statement multiple times and eventually stated he did not know. After briefly speaking to the victim, LEO attempted to clarify some more statements. When asked, [Mccune] then stated he did not know anything that had happened. [Mccune] was unable to recollect any specific event that occurred. [Mccune] did deny ever being in the bedroom. He also denied ever being pushed to the ground by the victim or ever putting his hand on the victim’s neck.
Neither [Mccune] nor the victim had any obvious injuries, redness, or marks consistent with their statements. Both [Mccune] and the victim had obvious bruises on their arms from past altercations.”
Mccune’s bond is set at $25,000
