Man Arrested for Domestic Battery after Arson Threats
Christopher Hooten, 39, was arrested on Monday and charged with obstructing justice, false imprisonment and domestic battery.
Hooten reportedly beat the victim and took her phone when she tried to call the police. A witness walked into the room and Hooten threatened to burn the house down.
Hooten told the victim “You’ll never see this phone again” and ran out of the house with the phone.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tommy White described hearing a struggle on the 911 call before the call disconnected.
Hooten denied to speak with deputies.
Hooten’s bond is set at $200,000.
