Francisco Javier Lopez-Garcia, 33, was arrested on Thursday and charged with domestic battery, robbery by sudden snatching, false imprisonment, and hindering communication with law enforcement.

On August 29, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy Lexi Burks responded to Oak Mobile Home Park to find the victim and her neighbor outside. The victim told Burks that Lopez-Garcia had been accusing her of cheating for a while and that night told her to leave the house because he was mad at her for changing her Facebook profile picture.

The victim said she’d leave after changing clothes, and Lopez-Garcia reportedly grabbed her and dragged her through the home while she screamed.  The victim said again she’d leave if allowed to change clothes, and Lopez-Garcia let her go.

Lopez-Garcia continued arguing with the victim, prompting her to say that she would call the police once her phone was charged. In response, Lopez-Garcia grabbed the victim's phone and keys.

The victim ran out of the house, and her neighbor let her call 911 from their phone. The victim and neighbor observed Lopez-Garcia fleeing the scene in a green Ford Ranger truck.

Lopez-Garcia went to a relative’s home located in the same mobile home park. When Burks arrived, Lopez-Garcia told her that he wasn’t “worrying about going to jail [because] the charges would be dropped.” Lopez-Garcia claimed he "did nothing wrong."

Lopez-Garcia was charged with child abuse in 2016 but the case was dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Lopez-Garcia’s bond is set at $85,000.
