Man Arrested For Pulling Knife on Girlfriend
Timothy Levynche McCray Jr., 31, was arrested by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) early Sunday morning and charged with property damage, burglary, intimidation, and aggravated assault.
According to the arrest report, McCray told his girlfriend he would kill her because he was mad she was out with friends instead of picking him up from work. The victim went to a grocery store and called the police before returning to her residence.
While the victim was in her vehicle, McCray reportedly came out of the apartment with a knife in hand and approached the victim’s vehicle. McCray began hitting the car door window with the blade after the victim refused to exit the car. After McCray caused roughly $500 in damage to the car, the victim put it in drive and fled the scene.
Deputy Malcolm Wilson reported that after deputies detained McCray, he “spontaneously stated he was in possession of a box cutter knife that he recently obtained from work.”
During his police interview, McCray claimed he didn’t brandish a knife and that the car’s damage was from an accident. In 2017, McCray was charged with aggravated cyberstalking and was granted a withheld adjudication.
The arrest reports indicate McCray has a pattern of verbal abuse.
McCray was denied bond, and the State Attorney's Office intends to file a pretrial detention motion.
