Man Arrested Over Half-Year After Warrant’s Issuance

Richard Lee Snead, 32, was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant for larceny, obstructing justice, false imprisonment and domestic battery.

Snead was initially charged via sworn complaint on May 15. A warrant was issued the same day.

On May 14, Snead reportedly accused the victim of “acting weird.” The victim told him this was because he just took Xanax and that he was “acting weird” himself. 

Snead thought this was a good time to initiate sex, and the victim rejected his advances. Snead became angry and asked her where his cannabis was located. The victim did not tell Snead where his cannabis was, making him more angry. 

Snead began searching around the house for his cannabis and couldn’t find it. Snead began pushing his weight on the victim and strangled her, causing the victim to stop breathing for a moment. 

Snead reportedly yelled “stop playing with me,” and the victim gave him the cannabis. Snead punched her in the back of the head after she threw him the bag. 

The victim ran away and said she was calling the police. As she was dialing 911, Snead snatched the phone out of her hands and held the victim down while choking her. 

Snead attempted to prevent the victim from leaving but she took the phone back and ran outside where she was able to call the police. 

Snead told police over the phone that he told the victim “to leave so he could have another woman over to have sex with.” Snead claimed the victim hit him in the mouth because of this. 

Snead claimed he didn’t choke the victim and that her neck bruises were from a “past relationship.”

Snead’s bond is set at $26,000
