Ellis James Ezeb, 33, was arrested last week and charged with felony battery by a repeat offender.

On November 28, the victim called the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) and advised that she wanted legal advice about Ezeb beating her but did not want to make contact. The victim called a witness shortly after and told her about Ezeb’s abuse.

On November 30, the witness called GPD and told her she was worried about the victim due to Ezeb’s abuse.

GPD Officer Esteban Escobar reported that the victim told him Ezeb shoved her a few times and didn’t punch her. The victim told police she didn’t want Ezeb to go to jail.

Escobar reported that Ezeb admitted to battering the victim on November 28. Ezeb reportedly said he “wrestled with” the victim and stated, “I ain’t going to lie to you, so like, it happened all so fast.

Ezeb was convicted of battery out of Columbia County in 2006.

Ezeb’s bond is set at $15,000.
