Man Who Violated Pretrial Release in 2009 Domestic Battery Case Arrested for Aggravated Stalking and Battery
On July 29 at 1:00 am at Cedar Grove, Keith Gerald Miles, 41, reportedly stalked a woman by waiting outside of a location she is known to frequent and committed battery against her by hitting her multiple times, causing injuries to her arms.
Gainesville Police Department (GPD) Officer Brayden Stokes reported in the sworn complaint that Miles “intentionally damaged [the victim’s] property by maliciously and intentionally kicking her vehicle multiple times, causing visible dents, deformations, and scratches to the vehicle in excess of $1,000 in damage.”
Stokes reported that Miles has an alias known as "Dog Man."
A witness told Stokes they saw Miles standing over the victim while she was on the ground. The witness said Miles struck the victim at least two more times when she went to get up, knocking her to the ground once.
Miles left the area but returned shortly after to make verbal threats against the victim’s life. He reportedly reached into his waistband as if he had a weapon, with the victim reporting he was known to have a gun on him.
Miles was arrested on August 19 at 11:45 p.m. after he reportedly ran away from Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy Krishna Maharaj after he conducted a traffic stop.
Maharaj reported he deployed a taser and that it “achieved the desired effect to arrest the defendant.”
Maharaj reported that while arresting Miles he “spontaneously uttered he ran because he has an active warrant.”
Miles was charged with battery with a prior conviction, aggravated stalking, property damage, and resisting an officer without violence.
In 2009 Miles was charged for violating his pretrial release in a domestic battery case, in which he was later found guilty.
Miles is eligible for a bond of $120,000.
