Man with Marion County Battery Conviction Arrested for Strangulation in Gainesville
Howard Donnell Parker, 37, was arrested on Monday and charged with domestic battery by strangulation and battery with a prior conviction.
Parker reportedly strangled the victim and obstructed her breathing. The victim broke free and fled to a neighbor's house.
Alachua County Sheriff's Office Deputy Vontrell Johnson reported the victim had visible injuries on her neck consistent with strangulation.
The victim’s neighbor stated he felt the victim was going to break down his door while seeking help.
Parker’s bond is set at $100,000.
In 2016, Parker was convicted of domestic battery in Marion County and sentenced to five months and ten days in jail with five months and eight days time served, followed by three years of probation.
On May 5, 2024, the Alachua Chronicle reported Parker was arrested for aggravated assault for threatening people with a machete at Grace MarketPlace. The State Attorney’s Office dropped the charges on May 28, 2024.
Parker also had a disorderly intoxication case out of Madison County.
