Newberry Groomer Who Threatened Community with Mass Shooting Released on Bond

Simon David Flores, 29, was arrested on November 26 and charged with obscene communication and possession of obscene material.

On September 18, Flores told an Instagram user he was depressed and wanted to commit a mass shooting. Later that day he told another Instagram user that 15 years of age was the “lowest [he’d] go.”

On September 25, Flores sent a message to someone on Instagram stating he wanted to “pull a Columbine.”

On September 26, Flores attempted to groom a South American minor on Instagram. Flores continued having a sexually abusive conversation with the child after learning their age.

Flores was released after posting a $100,000 bond. 

State Attorney Brian Kramer did not file for pretrial detention.

Flores' Instagram username was mcneil_kurt.

Flores’ bond forms don’t state his pretrial release conditions, and his first appearance order isn’t publicly available on Alachua County’s court records website.
