Christopher Lenard Kelsey, 47, was arrested on April 3 and charged with domestic battery by strangulation.

The victim told police she and Kelsey were arguing outside of their apartment when he grabbed her by the throat and began choking her against a wall.

A resident at the apartment complex witnessed the altercation and shouted at Kelsey to stop choking the victim.

The victim was able to get away and contact the police from her apartment.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cedrick Henderson reported that the victim had a low, raspy voice consistent with being choked.

Henderson reported that Kelsey “appeared to be intoxicated and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. He had slurred speech, was hostile and confrontational. [Kelsey] was also sitting nearby multiple empty cans of Natural Ice beers. Post-Miranda, [Kelsey] was asked to make a statement regarding the incident. [Kelsey] stated ‘Suck my dick’ multiple times."
