Ocala Attorney Makes Bond Motion for Hawthorne Man Charged with Sexual Battery Against Minor
Wesley Robert Fickett, 44, was arrested last week and charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious behavior and three counts of sexual battery against a minor.
The pretrial detention motion states Fickett groomed the victim over a period of several months. Fickett reportedly gave the victim alcohol to take advantage of her and raped her several times.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Michael Adkins reported that Fickett “denied that he ever had sex with the victim. He claimed that she had been ‘flirty’ towards him from time to time and that they have had talks about sex. He clarified that the talks were not about them having sex together but that it was for any sexual questions she may have. The defendant did describe that there were times where he was home alone with the victim. He also described that he had seen the victim ‘black out drunk’ on a few occasions.”
Fickett has sought private counsel from Ocala lawyer Jimmie Sparrow of Sparrow and Fairchild Attorneys at Law.
According to Sparrow’s website, his “philosophy is to provide high-quality legal representation with integrity.”
Sparrow and the State Attorney’s Office made respective motions for bond and pretrial detention on Monday.
Fickett has a pretrial detention hearing scheduled for tomorrow.
In June 2018, Fickett was arrested for domestic battery for allegedly head-butting the victim but the charges were dropped a month later due to lack of evidence.
In October 2018, Fickett was arrested for domestic battery for allegedly head-butting the victim again and the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence again.
