Press Release from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office:
On Sunday, February 23 at approximately 12:37am, Deputy C. Litzkow responded to the location regarding an assault/battery call. When he arrived, he found the suspect, 48-year-old William Erickson, seated next to the victim, who was curled up on the ground. It was learned the victim has severe disabilities due to suffering from a traumatic brain injury in the past, and this is something Erickson is aware of.
The investigation by DS Litzkow revealed Erikson became agitated with the victim while they were hanging out.
When the victim refused Erikson entry into her residence, Erikson shoved her to the ground and struck her in the face. Erikson then continued into the victim's home, and hindered the victim from calling 911 when he threw their phone.
Erikson is charged with Burglary with Battery, Abuse of Disabled Adult Without Great Bodily Harm, Trespassing, and Hindering Communication to Law Enforcement.
