Press Release: ACSO Arrests Man for Lewd/Lascivious Behavior
Press Release from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office:
We have zero tolerance for those who prey upon our most vulnerable citizens. If you harm children, you're going to jail, and our detectives and deputies will make sure you are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
59-year-old Randy Spencer is a convicted felon. He was previously sentenced to 22 years in prison after being convicted of 2nd degree Murder, Burglary and Cocaine possession in Columbia County, and in another case, he was previously charged with Sexual Battery by Force, where adjudication was withheld.
Spencer is now in the Alachua County Jail for making sexual advances on a juvenile.
On February 21, 2025, the juvenile victim disclosed to a family member she was sexually abused by the suspect, Randy Spencer. The juvenile explained Spencer started acting weird around them when they were 12 or 13 years old. This included an incident where Spencer saw the victim sitting at a table with a dress and told them to "spread their legs."
The victim also explained Spencer asking them for "favors" in order to use their phone. The victim understood the favors meant intercourse because they explained Spencer would use a low "seductive voice." Despite the victim denying Spencer's numerous sexual advances, he asked the victim to have sex. Spencer would also tell the victim it was okay to pleasure older men. He would also intimidate the victim by referencing his previous murder case, saying he would "chop up their body and dispose of it in a ditch if they told anyone."
Spencer is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition on a victim under the age of 16, and one count of tampering with a witness.
We applaud the victim for their bravery and coming forward to tell their story. It is because of them, and the work of ASO Detective M. Adkins, a violent offender is behind bars.
