Press Release: Santa Fe College President Paul Broadie Closes School For Hurricane Helene
Press Release from Santa Fe College President Paul Broadie:
Dear Santa Fe Family,
As Tropical Storm / Hurricane Helene approaches the state, and to support the safety and wellbeing of students and employees, Santa Fe College will be CLOSED Thursday and Friday, September 26-27, 2024.
This is a very fast-moving storm which is expected to bring strong tropical storm and hurricane force winds to the region along with heavy downpours and the possibility of tornadoes.
I am announcing this closure now to give students and employees the opportunity to prepare before the storm and the ability to assess any potential damage once the storm passes. The storm is expected to move rapidly toward Florida once it enters the Gulf of Mexico. I encourage everyone to monitor the National Hurricane Center website for all official information concerning Tropical Storm / Hurricane Helene.
The college’s Emergency Management Team will continue to meet during the storm and will make recommendations based on conditions as to when we will be able to reopen. I ask that you monitor the SF Alerts webpage, which will post official information from the college about the storm and our plans to reopen.
Stay safe,
Paul
