Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Not Reporting Address Change

Registered sex offender Thomas Lee Dowling, 28, was arrested on Monday on a warrant for failing to register a change in address.  

Dowling was required to register as a sex offender following a conviction in November 2018 for sexual battery against a victim between 12 and 17 years of age.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Detective Ryan Depete reported “Dowling's Florida identification did not reflect his new permanent address, as his identification card showed his previous transient address…. As of January 9, 2025, Dowling has failed to report to the driver license office to update his Florida identification card with his new permanent address.”

Dowling’s bond is set at $25,000.

Dowling has an arraignment scheduled for May 13.
